Maxnetic® Connector Technology

The Maxnetic® product family is available in multiple pitches, configurations, and termination styles, enabling designers to optimize magnetic interconnect performance for a wide range of applications.

Mill-Max Innovation

Built on decades of precision-machined interconnect expertise, Maxnetic® connectors integrate Mill-Max spring-loaded pin reliability with robust magnetic coupling.

Key Design Features:

  • Spring-loaded and target pin construction maintains consistent, low-resistance contact over millions of cycles.
  • Gold-plated components ensure corrosion resistance and optimal conductivity.
  • Polarized neodymium magnets provide strong holding force and automatic alignment.
  • Self-location and zero-force mating reduce user error and mechanical stress.
  • Durable housing options: available in shrouded and unshrouded formats for application flexibility.

Performance Highlights:

  • Current ratings up to 7.2 amps per pin (4 mm series)
  • Contact resistance as low as 20–25 milliohms
  • Cycle life up to 1,000,000 cycles
  • Reliable operation across temperatures up to +80°C

Connector Selection and Configuration Options

Termination Styles

Maxnetic® connectors are offered in solder tail, solder cup, through-hole, and surface-mount options to suit various design requirements.

Mounting and Pitch Options

Maxnetic® connectors are available in two distinct pitch formats to suit different design and performance needs:

4 mm Pitch (0.1575”) – Series 878/879

Designed for applications requiring higher current handling, these connectors support up to 7.2 A per pin and offer pin-to-pin spacing of 4.0 mm. Available in 2 to 6 positions, they come in single row configurations with multiple termination options, including solder cup, through-hole, and surface mount (SMT). Both shrouded and non-shrouded variants are available to support board-to-board, cable-to-board, or cable-to-cable layouts.

Spring-Loaded and Target Connectors: 878-22-00X, 879-22-00X series.

4mm Maxnetic® Spring-Loaded Connectors

.100" Pitch (2.54 mm) – Series 872–875

This tighter pitch option enables lower-profile interconnects, ideal for compact designs. Available in 2 to 10 positions (single row) and 4 to 10 positions (double row), these connectors are offered with solder tail or solder cup terminations. With a current rating of up to 5.2 A per pin, they provide a balanced solution for both signal and power delivery in space-constrained environments.

Spring-Loaded and Target Connectors: 872-22-0XX, 873-22-0XX, 874-22-0XX,875-22-0XX series.

Selecting the Right Maxnetic® Connector

The ideal connector series depends on current requirements, board space constraints, interconnect density, and termination preferences.

Use 4 mm Pitch Connectors When:

  • Higher current capacity is required
  • Larger conductors are needed
  • Cable-to-board designs are preferred
  • Maximum magnetic retention is important

Use .100" Pitch Connectors When:

  • PCB space is limited
  • Higher contact density is needed
  • Double-row layouts are beneficial
  • Compact product designs are required

Maxnetic® Spring-Loaded Connectors

Modular Flexibility

Maxnetic® connector systems support board-to-board, cable-to-board, and cable-to-cable interconnects. Designers can mix compatible spring-loaded and target connector halves, select shrouded or unshrouded housings, and choose from multiple termination styles to create application-specific connector solutions.
